Across all reviewed seasons, the show deliberately embeds progressive gender ideology as a foundational element through Fred—voiced by non-binary actor Iris Menas and using they/them pronouns—as well as references to same-sex parenting and repeated messaging on acceptance, respecting differences, and normalizing non-traditional identities. Creator Chris Nee, an LGBTQ activist and parent, has explicitly framed these choices as intentional efforts to introduce gender fluidity and queer family structures to young children rather than as organic storytelling. This consistent prioritization of identity politics over neutral entertainment in a TV-Y format drives the show's official overall woke score of 9/10, fueled by audience backlash labeling the content as indoctrination and contributing to its cancellation after Season 5.
