Monster: The Lizzie Borden Story earns its 9/10 woke score by inventing a central lesbian romance and suffrage-linked queer liberation plot that recasts the axe murders as feminist resistance to patriarchy. The result buries history under heavy-handed identity politics and female rage messaging best avoided by viewers seeking facts over ideology.
The show "Monster: The Lizzie Borden Story" reframes the historical Lizzie Borden axe murders as a narrative driven by a central fabricated lesbian romance between Lizzie and her maid, complete with explicit intimacy, shared plotting, and ties to suffrage marches as acts of queer liberation.
This setup positions the crimes as empowered resistance to patriarchal oppression, with the father and stepmother cast as symbols of systemic cruelty and Lizzie's violence recast as feminist self-actualization. Creator intent frames the entire production as a women-driven project centered on female rage and the subversion of traditional gender roles, sidelining factual history in favor of contemporary identity politics. The result is a thematically overwhelming imposition of progressive ideology that defines the show's content profile, earning its official overall woke score of 9/10.

The story in itself is interesting, it's visually beautiful and the casting plays good. You can appreciate the story if you're patient enough to pass through the heavy anti-man propaganda. Besides that they will regularly shove the feminine equivalent of incels sciences in the story to denounce the place of women in society, in a way to portray the 1900's place as the worst possible and still putting it as a modern problem of the same level. Additionally the protagonists and events are grotesque of misogyny exaggerated to the maximum. Meanwhile all capable women are lesbian. You will also enjoy the classical little details of woke series where any sex scene between a female and male will look as blank as a raw tofu cube for the woman, while lesbian ones are always portrayed as the summum of pleasure. You can even appreciate some misplaced xenophobia, all male protagonists as awful, etc. All the package is here.
This series is a masterpiece of radical feminist revisionism that completely abandons historical truth for an intense ideological narrative. The show relies heavily on wild speculation, dramatizing controversial events that were absolutely never proven in a court of law or by history. In a stunningly bold move, it takes a real, deceased woman (may she rest in peace) and portrays her as a lesbian, fabricating a romantic relationship entirely out of thin air with zero historical proof. By aggressively rewriting her identity, the lead character is transformed into a modern icon of queer liberation and righteous female rage, weaponizing a brutal crime as a strike against the violent constraints of the patriarchy. While traditionalists will hate how it exploits the dead and invents its own facts, the show’s total disregard for reality in favor of pure intersectional politics makes it the ultimate, unapologetically woke true-crime triumph.
