Wolfenstein II: 5/10 woke.
Methodology: Each score synthesizes audience discourse, critic and aggregator reception, and press coverage — weighed against the work itself, not any single source.
No evidence of creator interviews on inclusion mandates, studio DEI initiatives, ESG decisions, or marketing centered on progressive credentials beyond standard anti-Nazi themes.

The problem begins when the game decides it needs to lecture the player. Grace Walker is the most glaring example. She arrives with the bearing of a radical Black revolutionary leader distrustful of all white people and spouting rhetoric about oppression and, at one point, corrects BJ when he calls the Nazis “monsters”: “Not monsters. Men.” In other words: they aren’t monsters… they’re men. Furthermore, Grace fits the classic mold of the “representative” character of the era: a Black woman and activist who is wary of white people, constantly spouting political rhetoric and projecting an air of moral superiority. She is not merely a competent resistance leader; she is a vehicle for a message. At times, it seems the script is more interested in making the player “reflect on systemic oppression and toxic masculinity” than in telling a story of war and revenge against the Reich.
The entire game has this strange duality: on one hand, it’s a slaughterhouse; on the other, it tries to explicitly inject feminist and racial themes and perspectives. BJ being “educated” on his limitations, women constantly portrayed as more capable or morally superior, the American resistance led by “diverse” figures delivering canned speeches it all smacks of a 2017 checklist. You can play and have a blast if you switch off your brain, is woke or don't have one to begin with. But the attempt to mix "kill Nazis and have a good time" with "now let's talk about how men and white America are the root of the problem" turns out like crap. Instead of strengthening the story, it ends up undermining the weight of the game's own premise.
