Other elements include a gay horse, Will's past bullying, and considerations of gay parenting via artificial insemination with Grace. These LGBTQ+ themes are prominent, influencing casting (gay leads played by straight actors), humor, and occasional social commentary on gay life and hypocrisy, but they remain comedic and stereotypical—Jack as flamboyant, Will more normalized—without delving into systemic oppression, intersectionality, critiques of traditional norms, or DEI mandates.

No race-swapping, forced diversity clashing with the all-white core cast, or overt activism; creators aimed at normalization through entertainment, not lectures. Reception was strong with Emmy nods, no contemporary 'woke' backlash or 'go woke go broke' complaints, as the ideology integrates organically into friendship and relationship hijinks rather than dominating the premise or emotional core.
