This diversity feels somewhat organic to the animated adventure format but is highlighted in reviews as a strength. More prominently, the season includes significant LGBTQ+ representation: protagonist Adam is revealed as gay via rejecting Mira's kiss and confiding in Kai, deconstructing assumed heterosexual romance tropes in a key emotional subplot; Mira's two fathers normalize gay parenting; and fans shipped Adam/Reeve pairings.

Common Sense Media notes themes around sexual orientation for its 10+ audience. These elements influence character arcs and relationships but do not form the core premise of escaping a glitchy VR game world through teamwork and mystery-solving.

No creator activism or overt lectures appear, reception is largely positive with fans praising the rep, and no notable backlash or 'woke' controversies emerged. However, as tween media for impressionable viewers, the focal gay lead reveal and normalized non-traditional families elevate the progressive influence beyond incidental, embedding identity politics into friendship dynamics without dominating the adventure narrative.
