The story prioritizes emotional intimacy and healing between two men in a genre explicitly marketed as LGBTQ+ and BL, with the boxing and sports elements serving as backdrop rather than core conflict. Casting mixes Japanese and Korean leads in an international setting, but the progressive push comes from normalizing non-traditional male relationships as the focal emotional driver without traditional heterosexual framing or resolution.

Creator and promotional emphasis on understated same-sex love as a new form of romance reinforces the ideological framing over conventional storytelling. Audience reactions split between those seeking explicit BL content and those noting its subtle queer focus, with some labeling the forced integration of LGBTQ themes into macho sports contexts as agenda-driven. This centrality of identity-based romance elevates the score, as the plot would collapse without the queer soulmate element.
