The ongoing polyamory throuple of Kev, Veronica, and Svetlana explores non-traditional relationship dynamics with Kev realizing emotional imbalances for deeper communication. Debbie's teen motherhood and Fiona's independence add modern female empowerment touches, while Lip's rehab and Carl's maturation touch addiction and coming-of-age without heavy ideology.

These influence character arcs and plots but remain organic to the gritty, irreverent tone, without lectures, race/gender swaps, creator activism statements, or dominating the family dysfunction core. Casting is unchanged and setting-appropriate with incidental diversity. No notable contemporary backlash for Season 7 specifically, unlike later seasons criticized for preachiness.
