This change is visually prominent in key art and marketing, with the character actively participating in combat and group dynamics as a core ally. The swap aligns with broader casting shifts, including Black voice actors for Raphael and Michelangelo, and reflects intentional modernization noted by the production team and Graham herself, who framed it as challenging prior depictions. Incidental tolerance themes appear in episodes such as 'Repairin' the Baron' through mutant-human relations, yet these elements stay peripheral without overt identity politics or lectures shaping the premise.

Some subtextual queer coding has been noted by fans, but it remains non-central to dialogue or story. The moderate score stems mainly from the inorganic casting alterations rather than foundational ideological content or audience reception signals.
