High schooler Amate "Machu" Yuzuriha meets refugee courier Nyaan and boy Shuji, entering illegal Clan Battles piloting the prototype gMS-Ω GQuuuuuuX after a chance encounter. Episodes focus on duels, escapes, Newtype phenomena like Zeknova, and conflicts involving figures like Char Aznable and Kycilia Zabi, with plot points such as Machu's rebellion against Annqi's schemes and fights against terrorists targeting Kycilia.

The director's emphasis on exploring what it means for a woman to pilot a Gundam marks a continuation from the prior series but remains secondary to the core premise rather than a driving ideological force. New original characters including Machu and Nyaan integrate organically into the alternate-history setup without any alterations to established canon figures' identities. Standard Gundam themes of war trauma, freedom from authoritarian control, and Newtype potential dominate the narrative over any identity-focused messaging. Fan speculation on Machu-Nyaan subtext in the end credits stays unconfirmed and peripheral, leaving the series primarily concerned with mecha action and political intrigue rather than progressive messaging.
