Season 2 adheres strictly to the franchise's traditional school idol formula, delivering entertainment centered on the all-female Aqours group at Uranohoshi Girls' High School as they compete in Love Live events, work to prevent school closure by drawing new students, and handle personal milestones such as Dia building closer ties with juniors, temporarily adopting a dog, and third-years revisiting childhood aspirations. Episode narratives focus on themes of determination, friendship, and graduation emotions through musical performances and group activities, with no incorporation of identity politics, systemic critiques, or challenges to conventional norms.

This approach reflects creator intent geared toward straightforward idol competition storytelling rather than any activist overlay. Thematic centrality remains entirely absent, as the premise stays rooted in conventional girls' school idol dynamics without foregrounding representation as a narrative driver. Fan-noted subtext stays incidental to the genre and does not escalate into deliberate messaging, resulting in audience reception that aligns with expectations for lighthearted entertainment. Casting follows the established original Japanese schoolgirl characters without alterations that introduce external social agendas, keeping the overall experience free of progressive intrusions that could compromise its core appeal.
