The cast features Harold Perrineau as Boyd, Catalina Sandino Moreno as Tabitha, Ricky He as Kenny, and others from varied backgrounds, reflecting a modern mixed population without any source-material alterations or clashes with the setting. Creator statements and interviews emphasize horror tension and character dynamics rather than social justice framing.

No episodes or arcs address identity politics, systemic barriers, or critiques of traditional norms. Audience discussions and reviews focus exclusively on mystery resolutions and scares, with zero documented backlash or complaints labeling the season as prioritizing DEI messaging. This results in virtually no progressive ideological embedding, keeping storytelling traditional and entertainment-driven.
