Subplots occasionally address light progressive themes, such as civil rights violations against Muslim communities amid post-attack hysteria and a push for gun control following shootings, alongside a Republican governor portrayed as antagonistic in one arc. However, these elements remain incidental, serving as episodic side stories rather than influencing character arcs, emotional drivers, or the foundational premise of a conspiracy thriller centered on a catastrophic attack, governmental intrigue, and a reluctant leader's rise. There are no LGBTQ+ representations, identity politics focal points, creator-stated activist agendas, or significant audience backlash decrying 'wokeness'; the show prioritizes suspenseful entertainment and neutral crisis leadership, successfully avoiding heavy ideological intrusion.
