These elements reflect classic adult cable drama tropes of personal excess, monogamy challenges, and flawed male protagonists without any overlay of social justice activism, identity politics, or critiques of systemic issues. The 2008 production predates modern DEI influences, features standard casting with no race or gender swaps of established characters, and includes only incidental diversity (such as a paternity reveal involving a mixed-race child) that serves plot convenience rather than messaging.

No creator statements emphasize inclusion or challenging norms; reception focuses on the show's raunchy entertainment value and relationship drama. Progressive elements are absent, making this traditional, neutral storytelling driven by character vices and relationships rather than ideology.
