Specific examples include non-binary wrestler Speedball Mike Bailey (using he/him and they/them pronouns) winning the World Trios Championship in January 2026 alongside Hangman Page and The Jet, a development highlighted by outlets as the promotion's first non-binary champion. Transgender wrestler Nyla Rose remains a roster fixture as the first openly trans woman signed to a major promotion and former AEW Women's World Champion. Additional LGBTQ+ talent includes openly gay wrestler Anthony Bowens and non-binary performer Abadon, with storylines and roster notes emphasizing sapphic relationships such as Diamante and Kiera Hogan.

The June 2026 episode closed with commentator Excalibur delivering an explicit Pride Month support message. Creator positioning appears in Tony Khan's public responses to diversity critiques and the company's "AEW is for everyone" framing with trans symbols. Audience reception shows mixed signals, including fan incidents of anti-LGBTQ slurs leading to ejections and political chants like "F*** ICE" disrupting segments, alongside progressive media praise. These elements influence character prominence and subplots without redefining the core athletic competition premise, placing the season in the noticeable-to-significant range.
