Casting features organic diversity, such as the competent Black President David Palmer (carried over from Season 1) and Hispanic Tony Almeida, integrated seamlessly without tokenism or narrative pandering. Middle Eastern characters include both villains and sympathetic figures like agent Yusuf Auda, countering stereotypes amid post-9/11 tensions, but this serves the plot's twists rather than preaching inclusion. Subtle elements like Palmer deploying the National Guard to curb anti-Muslim riots add a light touch of anti-xenophobia without lectures or systemic critiques.

No race/gender swaps, LGBTQ representation, or identity politics drive the story; themes emphasize patriotism, evidence-based decisions, and heroic sacrifice in a traditional good-vs-evil framework. Creator Joel Surnow's conservative leanings reinforce the pro-security, anti-terror focus. Reception was universally acclaimed for thrills, with zero 'woke' backlash—criticisms targeted torture glorification and Muslim portrayals as too stereotypical, the antithesis of progressive activism. This season excels as unadulterated entertainment, free from ideological intrusions.
