Detailed Analysis
The Wrath of God (original title La ira de Dios) is a 2022 Argentine Netflix thriller directed by Sebastián Schindel and adapted from Guillermo Martínez’s novel.
Its core premise revolves around Luciana (Macarena Achaga), who sues her employer Kloster (Diego Peretti) for sexual harassment after he kisses her, triggering a chain of family deaths she attributes to his revenge; she enlists journalist Esteban (Juan Minujín) to expose him. The narrative centers on personal vendetta, “eye for an eye” retribution, and questions of divine versus human justice, with no systemic oppression framing or identity-based conflicts.
Key Factors
- Sexual harassment lawsuit serves only as the inciting incident in a traditional revenge thriller, without feminist lectures or systemic critiques
- All casting aligns organically with the Argentine setting and source novel; no race/gender swaps or forced diversity
- No creator statements, subplots, or reception signals indicate activist intent; reviews focus solely on pacing and suspense, with zero woke-related controversy
Methodology: Each score synthesizes audience discourse, critic and aggregator reception, and press coverage — weighed against the work itself, not any single source.
