The narrative follows Jake Tilton using the paw to wish for a car and later revive coworker Tony Cobb, resulting in a psychotic killing spree; themes remain traditional horror fare focused on fate, greed, and unintended consequences with no social justice framing, identity politics, or critiques of patriarchy, capitalism, or norms. Casting includes Corbin Bleu as Catfish and Charles S.

Dutton as Detective Margolis as new supporting characters in a modern Louisiana setting, representing incidental diversity that does not alter established source material or drive the plot. No creator statements emphasize activism or inclusion, and reception shows typical genre criticism over quality with zero references to progressive messaging or backlash.
