This documentary pushes an 8/10 woke agenda by framing Elon Musk's right-wing shift and attacks on the "woke mind virus" as fascist extremism, while weaponizing his daughter's story and critics to smear his companies and politics. Avoid it for anything resembling balance.
We've run a full content analysis on Musk and scored it 8/10 on the woke scale. Read our detailed breakdown above to see exactly what we found.
Our analysis checks for themes like identity politics, race-swapping, gender ideology, environmental activism, anti-religious messaging, and other progressive agenda elements. The 2026 documentary 'Musk,' directed by Alex Gibney, centers its four-hour narrative on puncturing Elon Musk's self-mythology as a visionary inventor-entrepreneur, instead portraying him as a Gilded Age-style confidence man whose companies (Tesla, SpaceX) rely on hype, government credits, and unfulfilled promises while his personal life and politics reveal megalomania.
The film's second half explicitly frames Musk's shift toward right-wing politics—including his purchase of Twitter/X, alliance with Trump, leadership of DOGE, and repeated references to the 'woke-mind virus'—as a corrupting turn into 'dark MAGA' extremism and unchecked power, with Gibney dismissing Musk's stated ideology as mere self-interest. Concrete elements include extended focus on Musk's estranged trans daughter Vivian Jenna Wilson (portrayed via footage and commentary as 'killed by the woke-mind virus'), interviews with critics like Kara Swisher and Ashley St. Clair emphasizing Musk as a 'nuke' or human of mass destruction, and narration labeling his worldview sociopathic or fascistic. Creator statements confirm intent to critique accreted power and the Musk-Trump alliance as 'terrifying' 21st-century influence, with no participation from Musk himself (replaced by a CGI avatar).
Methodology: Each score synthesizes audience discourse, critic and aggregator reception, and press coverage — weighed against the work itself, not any single source.
Director Alex Gibney's confirmed intent to critique Musk's power, right-wing turn, and alliance with Trump as 'terrifying' drives the production, replacing Musk with a CGI avatar due to non-participation.
