Resident Evil Requiem earns a low 2/10 wokeness score by delivering pure survival horror through Leon S. Kennedy and Grace Ashcroft with zero political messaging or forced representation.
Resident Evil Requiem centers on traditional survival horror and action storytelling through dual protagonists: returning Leon S.
Kennedy (redesigned as older) and new original character Grace Ashcroft, an FBI technical analyst and daughter of Alyssa Ashcroft from Resident Evil Outbreak. Grace's timid, anxious personality and non-combat background directly justify her first-person survival horror segments investigating Raccoon City Syndrome deaths and Elpis mysteries, while Leon handles action sequences; this setup draws from franchise lore without activist framing or forced representation.
No established characters receive race, gender, or sexuality changes, no queer romances or identity exploration appear in the plot, and searches reveal no Sweet Baby Inc. involvement, developer DEI statements, or narrative lectures on systemic issues. Some online discussion questions Grace's design or relatability as potential "woke" elements, but these remain fan speculation without evidence of central ideological intent or content.
Methodology: Each score synthesizes audience discourse, critic and aggregator reception, and press coverage — weighed against the work itself, not any single source.
No developer statements on DEI initiatives, ESG considerations, or marketing focused on progressive credentials are present.

Awesome game that’s not woke. Capcom does it again.
It’s hypocritical: while Grace was designed to be safe by modern standards, Leon was designed to be the ultimate handsome hunk to the point where a specific team was dedicated to making him as attractive as possible during production.
Grace is a woke character. Typical tropes of having female plot armor. Emily is a pointless character. They just want you to have sympathy because she's a little girl.
