The game's traditional storytelling centers on espionage, loyalty, betrayal, and survival in a jungle setting, with over-the-top villains and survival mechanics like eating snakes—pure entertainment focused on thrilling gameplay and cinematic flair, free from identity politics, DEI mandates, or social justice messaging. Konami emphasized respecting the original vision by making no content changes, only adding a precautionary warning for potentially 'outdated' expressions from the source material, such as mature violence or stereotypes common in era-specific games.

No evidence of DEI consultancy involvement, forced diversity, gender/pronoun features, or activist developer statements exists for this release. Reception highlights nostalgia, peak Kojima writing, and boss fights, with all backlash limited to technical porting flaws like crashes, poor controls, and resolution issues—praising the unadulterated content as the series' pinnacle.
