The core premise follows War, the male Horseman of the Apocalypse, accused of prematurely triggering Armageddon; he quests across a ruined Earth to uncover betrayal by angels and demons, battling traditional heavenly and hellish forces in hack-and-slash combat, exploration, and puzzles. The narrative draws directly from biblical and mythic tropes of balance between Heaven, Hell, and humanity without any modern social commentary, identity politics, or critiques of norms. The game contains no romance systems, character creation, pronoun options, or LGBTQ+ representation of any kind.

There are no developer DEI statements, consultancy involvement, or casting and thematic changes for diversity mandates. Audience and critic discourse shows zero focus on woke content, with Metacritic scores reflecting consistent favor and no backlash gaps.
