Six of Crows scores a low 3/10 on wokeness by keeping its heist, revenge, and survival plot front and center, with every character trait serving the story instead of any social agenda.
Six of Crows centers on a classic heist plot in the Grishaverse, with Kaz Brekker assembling a crew of outcasts for an impossible job in Ketterdam.
The narrative prioritizes revenge, survival, found family, and criminal underworld intrigue over any social messaging. Diverse elements appear through original characters whose traits support the story rather than define it: Jesper as the sharpshooter and gambler, Wylan as the demolitions expert with dyslexia, Nina as the Heartrender, Inej as the Wraith spy, Matthias as the Fjerdan prisoner, and Kaz as the cane-using leader dealing with trauma. The book's low ideological load stems from its tight focus on the heist premise, where queer elements such as Jesper's bisexuality, Wylan's orientation, and Nina's bisexuality remain normalized background details that do not drive romance subplots or the central conflict in the first volume.
Kaz's physical disability and PTSD, along with Wylan's dyslexia, receive researched character treatment that serves survival and revenge themes instead of identity politics. Leigh Bardugo has emphasized authentic research and diverse source reading to ground the world, with no indication of activist mandates overriding the criminal intrigue at the story's core.
Methodology: Each score synthesizes audience discourse, critic and aggregator reception, and press coverage — weighed against the work itself, not any single source.

While not as explicitly anti-capitalist as it's sequel, Crooked Kingdom (which isn't on this platform for some reason?), Six of Crows is an excellent fantasy novel that uses it's interesting cast of characters (again, who are explored further in the sequel) to develop such an interesting and setting of like post-industrial, free market capitalist decay. Has gays too 7/10 Wokeness 8/10 Quality
